all buffy all the time

Yes, Christmas is over, but it took me this long to take photos of my Buffy swap ornaments.

There were 7 of us in the swap group, and I received 6 ornaments. Why is there always a delinquent? Hehe, whatever. It was still fun. Behold my lovely shrinky dinks, Xander nutcracker, Buffy's punching bag, grrr argh, and - my favorite - Buffy paper doll!

buffyfest ornaments

Why yes, I am a nerd! Here are the ornaments I made for the Buffyfest ornament swap. They're little books written by Andrew that tell the story of Spike.

Of course I will post photos of the ornaments I receive later. So far I've gotten some shrinky dinks ornaments that are so adorable!

This is my third swap with this group, and my first two were made of polymer clay. I'm not sure I can top these, though. And I'm not sure I should...

one year I had the little prince

I want this. And I'm probaby going to get it. Because I cannot resist. Every year I get myself a calendar. Once it was the Little Prince, once when pickins were slim it was South Park. I've had a witchy one, a Coca-Cola one and I think one of some other TV show that I can't remember at the moment. But for the past few years, it's been Buffy. Just can't resist. Don't you love the simple joy of turning over the next month of a cool calendar?

it's a yam sham

Thanksgiving, Buffy style...

Buffy: Yeah. I guess I never really thought about it that way. With mom at aunt Darlene's this year, I'm not getting a Thanksgiving. Maybe it's just as well.
Anya: Well, I think that's a shame. I love a ritual sacrifice.
Buffy: It's not really a one of those.
Anya: To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice, with pie.

To celebrate (and take any chance I can get to combine Buffy and crafting), I made this.

it's all about Jim

I've finished Season 5 of The Office. Season 6 is on TV now, but near the end, I think, so I'll probably just wait until it shows up on netflix. Dwight stays hilarious. Jim stays awesome. And I've developed quite the fondness for Toby. He's just so pathetic. I can relate some days.

Smallville - I'm not jumping up and down, but it's fun to watch. Haven't really gotten attached to any of the characters yet, except Lex a bit. I've realized that I don't like the music - the theme song doesn't seem to fit to me, and the music in the episodes in general is not my taste. Which... duh.

The 3rd and 4th seasons of thirtysomething are now available on netflix. I've watched a few more episodes. I still really only care about Elliott and Nancy, and my extreme dislike for Hope just grows. What an irritating character. Ugh.

I found my copy of The Mists of Avalon, whew! I will now embark on what is probably my 12th or 13th reading. Or 20th. I have no idea, actually.

I haven't been to the comic book store in ages! Must go get Buffy and Angel comics. This is my favorite cover so far:

mom adopted you from a shoe box full of baby howler monkeys

Never you fear, I was working on stuff while I watched all this stuff...

Time Traveler's Wife - yawnapalooza

Thirtysomething - Finished the second season. Can't get third and fourth online, so it will probably be a while until we get around to actually having them sent through Netflix. All I want is for Nancy and Elliot to get back together. I don't care about the rest of the characters really at all.

Buffy - I'm always watching Buffy, practically every day, even if only for a few minutes. I'm currently in Season 5, and dang it, I like Riley. I know I'm the only one. I'm not saying this guy is the world's best actor, but let's face it, there's a lot of less than stellar acting on Buffy. That's not the point. I like the character, and I don't think he deserves the beating he gets from Buffy fans. I mean, it's not like he's Kennedy... sheesh.

Smallville - We watched the first disc of four episodes. I'm withholding judgment mostly, but I think I'll like it. I hope so, because there are like 47 or so seasons, right?

Movies - I never go to the movie theater, never I tell you. So how have I been there three times in two weeks? This weekend we saw Alice, which was... artistic. Yep. Not in any way moving, but very very beautiful. And I think I'm starting to hate Johnny Depp less. All of the eyes in this movie were gorgeous. And the costumes, of course.

And then on a whim, we went to the second-run cheapity-cheap theater and saw The Blindside. I was surprised, but I really enjoyed it. What a sweet story.

Waiting in the wings - Sportsnight, which I'm looking foward to muchly, and The Office, which I think is going to be my next laptop watching show.

I should probably go back to just watching buffy

Still watching Thirtysomething on my laptop. It's mostly sad. Did people really dress like that in the 80s? Really?

Saw Shutter Island with friends. It was awesome to see friends, but what a lame movie! Boring, long, predictable. I should know better. This is why I almost never go to the movie theater, and when I do it's the cheap second-run one!

Weeds - why am I still watching this show? It's gross and very very disturbing. I so so so love Mary Louise Parker, though - she's brilliant. So we watch. We're in the middle of season 5 right now. I miss the theme song. Also, I was hoping Andy would be a temporary character. He's in my top 10 least favorite characters ever.

And speaking of hated characters, Buffyfest is having a tournament. Quality entertainment. I'm personally rooting for Kennedy or Connor. Or Rona. Or Boyd. Ugh!

Glee is going to be on Tuesday nights. Don't they know I'm busy on Tuesday nights? Rude.

Thursday EART blog ring: Offline Selling

The EART Thursday blog ring topic this week is:
Selling OFFLINE. Have you done it? Do you like it? Are you looking to try it this year?

What I've found is that when I get my stuff out in shops it sells well. The problem is getting the time to do it! Also, selling yourself is a tough gig for most of us.

My most recent location was the Palmyra Public Library, where a bunch of happy penguins did sell over the holiday season.

Currently, I've got some geek stuff hanging out at the local comic book store.

I'd really love to get in to a couple of local shops; in fact I've even been approached by a few of them in the past year. So the ball is in my court. Hopefully life will let up a bit at some point in the next... ever. And I'll be able to pursue some wholesaling!

To see if other EART members are more organized than I am (I'm guessing they are...), continue the ring with PnkGeeni's blog.

tv tv tv, january 2010

OK, so Chuck is back. Yay! Plus 3 episodes in 2 days - double yay! Chuck is not something I would buy and watch repeatedly, but it's a great Monday night break for sure. Missed it? Don't worry, it's online :)

The 4400. We have about 6 episodes left. Why do so many of these brilliant sci-fi shows turn all religious and strange?

The Wii is officially fun. Got it for Christmas. Have been religiously doing 30 minutes or more of wii fit exercising each day. And yes, I know it's not really exercise for normal people, but for me, well, it's a good start. How is this tv-related, you ask? Well, we made mii's for all the Buffy characters. Oh please, don't act surprised.

I watched the movie Up last night, and I just don't get it. Everyone I know loves it, and I was completely nonplussed. Seriously, an old guy, an annoying little kid and and the whole middle half has a pack of dogs? Whatever. Sorry, I tried, but I just couldn't care.

Anxiously, well actually, no, not anxiously at all. But nonetheless awaiting Castle in 20 minutes. Ah, Nathan Fillion, you are so fabulous.

Just started Torchwood - not much opinion yet.

Have The Plan from Netflix waiting to be watched. Also can't wait for the next seasons of Big Love, Weeds, and True Blood to be available.

And last but not least - Charmed. Oh, yes, I am. Charmed, that is. Will be renting the next 7 seasons of that and probably skipping a lot of sleep to watch.

Wow, I watch a lot of TV. Huh.

I love the comic book store

Despite the fact that I had never entered a comic book store until Buffy Season 8, I find that I feel very at home there. The little comic book store in my town is owned and run by one guy named Jim, who is sweet as pie.

I was very pleased to take some stuff over there for consignment/display - stake earrings, Firefly necklace, slayer ornament, and of course the vampire slayer penguin.

I'm finding that I love the comic books, and I'm having to hold myself back from buying more. I'm only allowing myself to buy the Buffy and Angel related ones, but I can't help wondering - do I need more superheroes in my life?

Visit and support your local little stores. Their proprietors love what they do!

You want to make Buffy ornaments, I know you do...

From the Buffyfest blog: "The purpose of this event is to craft 4-6 ornaments with a Whedonverse theme and send them to 4-6 different recipients. In return you will receive 4-6 completely different handmade ornaments..."

Clicky the picture to read about and join the Whedonverse ornament swap. It's fun. I'm not sure what I'm making this year - possibly something from Dollhouse. Or not. Hmmm. Anyway, there's still a day or two to sign up, so come join the fun.

Introduce your Christmas tree to Buffy

Hang it on your Christmas tree. Or your bedpost. Or your rear view mirror. Share the Buffy love!

attn: buffy fans

I may be the last of the Buffy fans to find out about this site, but just in case...

JetWolf's The Chosen is a continuation of BtVS after season 7 (disregarding the comics, which is a viable lifestyle choice). I just finished reading her season 8, and I loved it. The characters are voiced well, the storylines make sense, and all in all, it's really true to the original series. So go now and read!

P.S. The scooby gang has moved to PA - how cool is that?

Buffy, the condensed version

Well, I usually keep my Buffy obsession off this particular blog, but...

Buffy, the Vampire Slayer (Abridged)

Oz driving away in his van still makes me cry, after seeing it a thousand times, and this one being less than a second.

ornament swaps, part 2

I participated in two holiday ornament swaps this season, one with PCAGOE members and one with Buffyfest Bloggers. The post with the ornaments I created for the swaps is here.

Here are the ornaments I have received in return so far:

Image transfer ornament by SCDiva - looks great on the tree!

Personalized gingerbread lady by artbylilin. So adorable!

Hehe, you have to know Firefly to get this one. Anybody recognize this object?

Awesome mica shift technique on this Buffy ornament by valeriebeads. I'm thinking this might get turned into a necklace after Christmas.

And a little framed silhouette ornament. This one also came with an alternate panel - Dr. Horrible instead of Buffy. How fun is that!

tarot card of the day

Tarot Card: Page of Pentacles
Character: Gwendolyn Post
Upright Meaning: Someone who works hard to get ahead and achieve goals. Sometimes overzealous.
Reversed Meaning: Unwelcome news. A hoarder. Mean and greedy.
Question: Are you hoarding materials or power?
Advice: Don’t be a control freak. Someone else is working just as hard as you are to achieve an opposite goal. If it’s a situation of two different but viable viewpoints, step back and let the other person succeed. If it’s clearly a matter of right and wrong, go ahead and pursue your goal ruthlessly.

--------------

Note to self: If you try to control every bit of every thing, you will become evil.
