My friend made two matching faux mokume gane technique photo frames - polymer clay on wood - at the crafting party this weekend. Yay!

stamping party
We had a fun crafting party at a friend's house this weekend.

I brought clay, but ended up doing the project du jour instead, which was a calendar. The pages fit into a flipped-around CD case to make a little desk calendar. I located (read "stole") some nice textured paper and various baubles to make mine.

It was a yellow sort of day. I went for the bright yellow for the page backgrounds, and then when I did finally get out the clay, the first color I picked up was also bright yellow. Odd.
The rest of the photos are at my flickr.

adventure croquet photos
Here they are. As you can see, it was light when we started and quite dark when we finished. I lost. As usual.

adventure croquet
It's the latest craze. Really. You set up the croquet wickets in random places all around the house. If you're in a duplex, well then, the neighbors have to be in on it, too. Use bits of rain gutters for ramps and large dogs as obstacles. Mow designs in your lawn and leave some areas of really tall grass. Remember that the balls float, so feel free to play close to the pond. Oh, and most importantly, start at 9:00 PM and play in the dark.
And next time, take pictures.
And next time, take pictures.

we make stuff!
My friend Mirm came over and made this jewelry set out of my Dorothy beads. I think they turned out great.

My friend Roni came over and learned basic canework. She made an egg shaker!

My sister Bird made this peach set - hat and socks for a baby. Behold the cute.

When I can't decide what to work on, I make goddesses while I'm thinking. Here's Penny, Lacey, Gretchen, Purple Rose and Rainbow.

behold the cute!
Just a few photos of my nephews from a month or so ago.
Here they are learning the joys of capitalism

Little JW in his favorite position. I think he's saying, "look how cute my tummy is!"

And big brother joins in the polymer clay fun.
Me: What color do you want?
J: Brown.
Me: Really?
J: Brown.
Well, he got gold and black, too, because that's what I was working with. It struck me funny, since most kids will choose bright colors. He's obviously going to grow up to be tasteful instead of dressing like a clown a la moi...
